And on June 19 ...

Elizabeth Rummel School & Community Playground Project

The Canmore Children's Festival is proud to support the Elizabeth Rummel School and Community Playground Project. This project has been selected as a recipient of a national award from the Let Them Be Kids foundation! The grant assists schools and communities like ours to help purchase and install playground equipment while strengthening the community as a whole. Every dollar raised by our community will be matched dollar for dollar by Let Them Be Kids! This project will include the replacement of an outdated wooden play structure and the installation of a number of activity/fitness stations, benches and tables, the planting of trees, as well as the revitalization of the outdoor classroom, Memorial Garden, and nature trail.

On Saturday June 19, 2010, hundreds of community members, students, parents, teachers, will join together as a team and complete the project all in ONE DAY! Our vision is that this project will foster pride and ownership by working towards a common goal and legacy, thereby creating a stronger, more united community, empowered to create positive change. By actively engaging newcomers and part-time residents in the project, we also see this project as a way to create new bonds, reinvigorate our spirit, and enrich our community fabric.
